Nigerians have expressed mixed reactions on social media following the latest reintegration of repentant Boko Haram members into the society by the Borno State Government.
Per a Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) video shared online, more than 3,000 repentant Boko Haram members were recently reintegrated into the society. The video showed the former terrorist swearing with the Holy Quran, denouncing religious extremism.
The event marked the completion of a reintegration program for the former terrorists. The video showed that the individuals were trained on several skills during the program to empower them.
Interestingly, the move followed the recent reintegration of over 100 repentant terrorists through the Safe Corridor project.
In response, Nigerians have expressed shock, describing the government as insensitive to people’s plights. They argued that this comes amid the unending insecurity in Nigeria that has led to countless deaths.
Yusuf Taiwo Akande said;
This is where the problem is. The problem started when this northern govs mixed emotions with governance. They need to be properly oriented as to the ethical needs of a society. Someone can not kill and claim repentance. Even in the Holy books, no exceptions to terrorist.
Victor Nosa added that;
Showing ‘Compassion, Understanding, and Acceptance’ to those who have raped, murdered, tortured, and pillaged?
And their victims?
What is being done for them?

After capturing, violating and killing men, women and kids, they’re just going to forgive not 1 but 3,000 of them?
