The Dangote Sugar Refinery PLC has issued a final warning alongside a threat of arrest against employees eating the company’s sugarcanes.
According to an April 7 internal memo circulating online, chewing the company’s sugar cane within the company/factory premises represents an act of gross misconduct that could lead to summary disciplinary actions.
The Dangote Sugar Refinery explained that the cane is company property with great value and cost attached to it. As a result, chewing cane and dropping the chaff indiscriminately is degrading the company environment and messing up housekeeping efforts.
The firm furthered that it is a food industry requiring excellent housekeeping. Hence, littering of chewed cane chaff is NOT allowed.
Following this, the firm revealed that its security apparatus is now on red alert and mandated to arrest violators. These perpetrators will be subject to disciplinary action and prosecuted accordingly to recover the loss of the company asset.
