The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has dismissed speculations that it is planning to N5,000 notes to the existing denominations of the Nigerian Naira.
The Apex Bank’s statement comes in response to allegations that it intends to expand the country’s currency denomination. The rumored N5,000 note circulating on X carries the image of the incumbent President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
However, the CBN disclosed that the allegations are fake and that the public should be guided.
Nonetheless, social media users have described the CBN’s statement as a hint of possible action.
