No fewer than 30 people, including eight children, have been killed after suspected terrorists attacked Naridon Village in Kamaru Ward of Kauru Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
The assailants reportedly invaded the community around 11 p.m. on Sunday, opening fire indiscriminately, burning houses and leaving dozens of residents dead, while several others sustained injuries.
The Secretary to the Village Head of Naridon, Dogon Rana, confirmed the attack, describing it as the worst the community had experienced. He said 30 deaths had been confirmed, while four critically injured victims were receiving treatment, warning that the death toll could rise.
Rana revealed that one resident lost five children in the attack, with the only surviving child fighting for life in hospital. He also said his own house, along with several other homes and shops, was destroyed by fire.

According to him, the lack of a motorable access road delayed emergency response and prevented many residents from escaping. He appealed to the Federal Government, Kaduna State Government and security agencies to deploy more security personnel and construct an access road to the community.
Another resident, who spoke anonymously, alleged that 22 members of the Rana family were among those killed. The resident also claimed the attack lasted for about three hours without security intervention, despite military formations being located about two kilometres away in Kamaru and Ungwan Magaji.
The resident added that only one military officer and four Mobile Police officers had been deployed to the community after the attack.
Efforts to obtain a reaction from the Kaduna State Police Command were unsuccessful, as calls and a text message to the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Mansir Hassan, were not answered at the time of filing the report.
