A newlywed woman, identified as Innocent Serah, has allegedly stabbed her husband, Innocent Nwaọjị, to death in Umuokereke Ngwa, Obingwa Local Government Area of Abia State.
The incident reportedly occurred on Saturday night, leaving residents of the community shocked.
According to reports, Nwaọjị was allegedly attacked while he was asleep. The circumstances surrounding the incident and what may have led to the alleged stabbing remain unclear.
A community member, David Amaraizu, confirmed the incident in a telephone conversation with journalists on Sunday.
Amaraizu said the couple got married in December 2025 and had been married for about eight months before the tragedy.
“We are not aware of any disagreement between the couple before the incident. They got married in December 2025 and had been married for barely eight months before the tragedy,” he said.

“We are not aware of any disagreement between the couple before the incident. The woman had been arrested and is currently in police custody, while the deceased’s body had been deposited at a morgue,” he said.
The suspect was reportedly arrested following the incident and is currently in police custody.
When contacted by Instablog, the Police Public Relations Officer in Abia State, Maureen Chinaka, said she would get back with a response.
As of the time of filing this report, the police had yet to provide further details on the incident.
Investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death is expected to determine what led to the alleged attack.
