Ogogo’s Daughters Cry Out for Help as Veteran Actor Battles Stage-Four Cancer

Two daughters of veteran Yoruba actor, Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, have appealed for urgent medical assistance for their father, who they disclosed is battling stage-four cancer.

The emotional appeals were made separately on Instagram on Monday by the actor’s daughters, Lima and Kira Taiwo, who said hospitals had reportedly stopped treating their father.

Daughter: ‘Please, give this man a chance’

In a tearful video, Lima said her father’s condition had deteriorated and appealed to Nigerians, well-wishers and medical professionals who could assist with his treatment.

She said the family was not seeking financial donations but was looking for a hospital or medical personnel willing to take on the actor’s case.

“My daddy has cancer and it’s really, really bad. And the hospitals are refusing to treat him. At least, please, give this man a chance,” she said.

According to Lima, the family only became aware of the seriousness of Hassan’s condition about three weeks ago, noting that his appearance had initially not suggested that he was seriously ill.

“You see him, you can’t even know that something is wrong that bad. It’s just starting to show. We didn’t even know until like three weeks ago,” she said.

‘We’re not here to ask for money’

Lima further appealed to anyone with connections to medical professionals or healthcare facilities capable of treating cancer to come to the family’s aid.

“If you know somebody that knows somebody that will be willing to treat him, anything, we’re willing to try anything. We’re not here to ask for money. Nobody’s here to ask for money,” she said.

She also acknowledged the support of a relative who had stepped in to assist the family during the crisis.

Second daughter confirms stage-four cancer

In a separate video, Kira disclosed that her father’s cancer had reached stage four and said the hospital treating him had informed the family that it could no longer administer chemotherapy.

“He has cancer and is in stage 4. The hospital is saying that they cannot treat him again, like they can’t give him chemo again,” she said.

Kira appealed to anyone with access to cancer treatment, including chemotherapy, to contact the family.

She also expressed appreciation to Senator Yayi, whom she said had been supporting the family financially and helping to settle the actor’s medical bills.

“He has been the one helping us, he has been the one footing the bills,” Kira said.

‘I don’t want my daddy to die’

The actress’ daughter stressed that the family’s appeal was for medical intervention rather than money.

“If you can treat my daddy, if you can start chemo for him, whether it’s medical or herbs, please, I’m begging you guys… anybody that you know that can treat cancer, please,” she pleaded.

Kira urged medical professionals and healthcare facilities with the capacity to manage cancer cases to reach out to her, her sister or their father.

“Please, if you can treat my daddy, please send me a DM. I’ll be checking my phone. Please, I don’t want my daddy to die,” she said.

She became emotional while describing her father’s condition, saying she had never seen him experience such severe pain.

“He’s saying that he doesn’t want to die. Please, I’ve never seen my daddy in that kind of pain before,” Kira said.

Ogogo’s four-decade career

Hassan, 66, is a veteran of the Nigerian film industry whose career spans more than four decades. He has featured in more than 300 movies and remains one of the prominent figures in Yoruba-language cinema.

As of the time of the report, neither the actor’s management nor his family had issued an official statement providing further details about the specific hospital, diagnosis or type of cancer involved.
