The Ogun State High Court sitting in Isheri-Olofin has ordered the operator of the popular Instagram platform, Instablog9ja, to disclose the identity of the person behind the account in an ongoing suit filed by Nollywood actress Adunni Adewale, popularly known as Adunni Ade.
The case, marked HCO/297/2026, came before Justice A. A. Babawale at the Isheri/Ojodu Abiodun Judicial Division on Wednesday, August 19, 2026.
Adunni Ade is listed as the applicant, while the respondent is identified as an “Unknown Person” trading under the name and style of @instablog9ja on Instagram.
During the proceedings, counsel for the respondent, Ayodeji Fasehun, told the court that he had received the court processes two days earlier. He also indicated that he intended to file an application seeking to disclose the identity of the person behind the account.
However, the court directed that the respondent’s response must include the name of the person operating the Instagram account.
Both Adunni Ade and the respondent were absent from the proceedings, while their lawyers represented them in court. Dr Olumide Babalola appeared for the actress.
The court subsequently adjourned the matter until August 31, 2026, for mention.
However, the legal action follows a dispute that emerged in June after Adunni Ade accused Instablog9ja of manipulating her social media posts concerning the birth of her daughter. The nollywood actress alleged that the platform combined separate comments in a way that changed the meaning of her original posts and fuelled speculation about the circumstances surrounding her child’s birth.
Adunni Ade accused Instablog9ja of repeatedly bullying and ridiculing her and said she would seek legal redress over the publication.
The actress later shared a certified copy of the August 19 court proceedings on her Instagram page, describing the development as an update on her case against Instablog9ja.
The latest order does not mean that the identity of the person behind Instablog9ja has already become public. Rather, the court has directed the respondent to identify the person behind the account as part of the ongoing legal proceedings.
The case will return to court on August 31 for further proceedings…..
