The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has lifted its long-standing restriction on changing registered contact details, allowing candidates to update their GSM numbers and email addresses once.
JAMB announced the development in a post on its official X account on Monday, stating that the new service took effect on September 21, 2026, for candidates who have lost access to the phone numbers or email addresses linked to their registration.
Under the new arrangement, each candidate will be allowed to update the registered GSM number and email address only once. The Board stated that the one-time access is intended to ensure candidates can regain access to their contact details while maintaining the integrity of its records.
Candidates seeking to use the service are required to process the update physically at designated JAMB Computer-Based Test Centres, including PTC/PRC centres, as well as JAMB State Offices.
To complete the process, candidates must provide a new active phone number and an active email address. They are also required to present a duly executed Court Affidavit as part of the requirements for the update.
JAMB said strict identity and biometric verification would be conducted for every request submitted under the new policy.
The verification process is aimed at ensuring that requests are made by the rightful candidates and preventing fraud and impersonation during the updating of registered contact information.
The Board’s decision marks a change from its previous restriction, which prevented candidates from updating their registered GSM numbers and email addresses after registration.
With the new policy, candidates who have lost access to their original contact details can now request a one-time update, subject to meeting the stated requirements and successfully completing the required identity and biometric verification process.
