The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a woman and also rescued her children following attempts to stab her 15-year-old daughter.
According to the Police, the woman was arrested at Opeki, Ayobo, Lagos and has been remanded in custody.
“The affected children have been rescued and safely handed over to the Lagos State Ministry of Youth and Social Development for proper care, protection, and necessary welfare support,” the police added.
The woman’s arrest follows a trending video showing her attempting to stab her daughter with a knife. However, swift intervention from the neighbours helped prevent the woman from delivering the final blow.
Statements linked to the video alleged that the incident is not a one-off as it follows the woman’s history of child abuse.
Meanwhile, the Police command assured the public that investigations are ongoing and the suspect will be prosecuted. “Members of the public are urged to remain calm, as the situation is under control,” they added.
