Ekiti Church attack: Monarchs propose suspension of evening Church Services as Kidnappers demand N1 billion ransom

A group of Monarchs in Ekiti State have proposed a total suspension of all evening church services following the recent abduction of 15 worshippers.

The Monarchs, led by the Eleda of Eda Oniyo, Oba Joseph Awolola, made the proposal on Wednesday while speaking with the government delegation on a visit  to the affected community.

Earlier in the week, a group of armed assailants attacked a CAC Church kidnapping 15 worshippers during an evening service. The incident also reportedly claimed the life of the presiding Pastor.

Consequently, traditional rulers from neighbouring communities including The Elewu of Ewu Ekiti and The Owa of Iludun have called for a total  ban on night religious services. They warned that late night religious gatherings will expose residents to avoidable danger.

The monarchs further demanded a comprehensive review of the local security networks citing how it took longer than expected for the security operatives to arrive at the scene. And upon their arrival, the Abductors have already fled, with the abducted congregants.

Meanwhile, the incident has since increased fear across Ekiti including the neighboring states as residents grow increasingly concerned about their safety.
