INEC sets May 11 to resume final phase of Voter Registration exercise ahead of 2027 elections

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced the resumption of its Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise by Monday 11th, May 2026.

The commission revealed on May 5 that the new phase will be the third and final one before the 2027 elections. The resumption comes nearly a month after INEC suspended the second phase on April 17th to clean its register.

According to the electoral commission;

The third phase of the CVR, which begins on Monday, 11th May 2026, will end on Friday, 10th July 2026. During this period, eligible citizens who have attained the age of 18, as well as those who were unable to register during the earlier phases, should seize this opportunity to do so.

INEC added that registered voters wishing to transfer their registration and replace lost or damaged Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) can also leverage this opportunity. These voters alongside those who intend to correct their bio are advised to access the commission’s website or offices.

Meanwhile, the Commission says it plans to display the register of voters for claims and objections from July 23 to July 29, 2026.

“This statutory exercise provides an important opportunity for citizens to scrutinise the register and assist the Commission in ensuring its accuracy, completeness and credibility,” INEC stated.
