Central Bank debunks Polaris Bank liquidation rumor

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has debunked a rumor circulating on social media that Polaris Bank may be embarking on a liquidation effort.

The rumor, shared by X user @Femzydr1, alleged that Polaris Bank is undergoing liquidation over failure to meet the CBN’s recapitalization requirements. As such, the bank has been placed under the National Deposit Insurance Commission (NDIC).

He further alleged that amid the liquidation effort, the bank has received a buyout offer from Billionaire Razaq Okoya.

However, the CBN has described the report as fake, noting that the Nigerian Banking System is Safe and Secure. In the same vein, Polaris Bank tagged the rumor as pure misinformation aimed at misleading the public.

Meanwhile, social media users have expressed concerns over the source of the rumor. They stressed that the rumor emanated from the same individual who recently falsely accused Actress Eniola Badmus, and Car Dealer Sarkin Mota.
