Popular Abuja-based car vendor Aliyu Muhammad popularly known as Sarkin Mota has threatened action against Twitter banger boy identified as @Femzydr1 over false allegations described as an April Fool joke.
On April 1, Femzy alleged that Sarkin Mota had been invited by the Nigerian Customs Authorities for questioning. The Twitter banger boy alleged that the car vendor was invited for illegally importing Accidental Cars from the USA into Nigeria.
He further alleged that the invitation followed multiple reports from the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC). He stresses that the vendor’s customers complain over issues like faulty airbags and electrical sensor problems. As such, the Customs Authority could fine him up to N550 million.
In response, Sarkin Mota ordered the Twitter banger boy to retract the allegations and apologize within 24 hours. Mota added that failure to apologize could lead to a criminal defamation charge of up to N2 billion.
Following this, the Twitter user disclosed that the action was not intentional, but an April Fool’s joke.
Meanwhile, Sarkin Mota has now threatened to take legal actions noting that the allegations put his reputation on the line.
He stated that;
You don’t get to put years of my hard work and everything I’ve built on the line, then dismiss it as an April Fool’s joke. That kind of misinformation has real consequences, and it affects not just me but the people connected to my brand.
Mota furthered that he intends to take actions, considering this is not the Twitter banger boy’s first offence.
“This also isn’t the first time you’ve done something like this, which makes it even harder to overlook. If this behavior keeps being excused as a joke, it will continue to damage people’s reputations unfairly,” he added.
Notably, the false allegations, now turned April Fool’s joke, come more than a month after the same individual allegedly falsely accused Nollywood Actress Eniola Badmus of being a pimp.
