MFM halts night vigils, restricts church activities to 8pm nationwide

The Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries (MFM) has announced the cancellation of night vigils, directing all church services nationwide to end by 8:00 p.m. until further notice.

Punch reported that the directive was contained in an internal memo dated June 5, 2026, signed by the church’s Director of Administration, Temitope A. Olawale, enjoining all branches to comply with the development until further notice.

The directive which was communicated to branches across the country as part of measures aimed at ensuring the safety and security of worshippers amid growing concerns over insecurity in several parts of Nigeria.

Following the new arrangement, all churches operating under the ministry are directed to suspend overnight prayer programmes and other late-night gatherings. And regular services and church activities are adjusted to ensure they end no later than 8:00 p.m.

However, the Church leaders were urged to comply strictly with the directive while remaining vigilant and prioritising the safety of members during all worship activities.

The development comes amid heightened security concerns across parts of the country. And religious organisations increasingly reviewing their operational schedules in response to emerging threats.

While the ministry is yet to indicate how long the measures will be in place. Members have been encouraged to continue participating in church programmes within the revised schedule and to adhere to all security guidelines issued by church authorities.
