A close associate and friend of the former APC Chairman, Malam Yahya Billi who was kidnapped alongside with the chairman Alhaji Muhammad Mai Barga Besse has reportedly passed away while being held captive by bandits in Kebbi State.
The victim was said to have been abducted alongside others during a raid by armed bandits on a community in the state around mid May 2026.
Recall that videos of the former APC Chairman of Koko/Besse Local government and his associate being humiliated by armed bandits in the Birnin Gwari forest circulating online earlier.
The clip which sparked outrage and concern among Nigerians. Thus, captures the victims in a vulnerable state while in the custody of their abductors. And it has renewed concerns over the persistent threat posed by bandit groups operating across parts of northern Nigeria.
Beyond the disturbing treatment of the victims, the footage also raises troubling questions about the apparent boldness of these criminal groups.
Following his passing, the local Izalah group announced that a funeral prayer will be held for him at the palace of the Sarkin Koko, while the circumstances surrounding his death remain unclear.
However, the tragic incident has added to the growing list of casualties linked to bandit attacks in Nigeria. Noting how communities repeatedly faced threats from armed criminal groups involved in kidnappings, cattle rustling, and other violent crimes.
