The Ogun State Ministry of Education, Science and Technology has banned all public and private schools in the state from organizing graduation ceremonies and end-of-session parties.
The Ministry announced the move in a recent circular addressed to public and private school administrators across Ogun state.
According to the Ministry, the decision follows reports of alleged extortion of parents and guardians by school administrators when organizing these events. They stressed that the actions contravene an earlier resolution reached during a stakeholder meeting held in September 2025.
“As a result, no school owner should organize such gatherings henceforth,” the ministry stated.
The Education Ministry emphasized that schools should not organize such events for any of the classes.

Consequently, the government warned that any school that contravenes the order will face significant sanctions.
While the development is expected to bring notable relief to the parents, it remains uncertain how the students and school administrators will react and respond to it since most have already begun making plans.
