The Lagos State Police Command has arrested four suspected members of an armed robbery syndicate allegedly operating around Iju-Ishaga and Oke-Aro areas of the state.
The suspects were arrested by operatives of the Command’s Violent Crime Response Unit, VCRU, following what the police described as credible intelligence and sustained surveillance.
The arrest was announced in a statement issued on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, by the Command’s spokesperson, SP Abimbola Adebisi.
Four suspects arrested in Mushin
The suspects were identified as 28-year-old Damilare Oluwatobi; 30-year-old Lekan Adenuga; 22-year-old Haruna Sheriff; and 24-year-old David Balogun.
According to the police, the four men were arrested at their hideout in Idi-Oro, Mushin, after operatives had gathered intelligence on their alleged activities.
The Command said the operation was part of efforts to disrupt criminal networks operating in different parts of Lagos.
25 phones, laptops and jewellery recovered
During a search of the suspects’ hideout, police said they recovered 25 mobile phones and two laptop computers.
Also recovered were a gold necklace, gold earrings and three cutlasses.
The police said the items were recovered from the location where the suspects were arrested and would form part of the ongoing investigation.
Police hunt for other gang members
The four suspects are currently in police custody and are assisting investigators with the ongoing probe.
The Command said efforts had been intensified to identify and arrest other members of the alleged syndicate who may be connected to the criminal activities.
The force authorities said the investigation would also help determine the circumstances surrounding the recovered items and establish the suspects’ alleged roles in the reported crimes.
CP commends VCRU operatives
The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Tijani Fatai, commended the VCRU operatives for what he described as a swift response and intelligence-led investigation.
Fatai reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to dismantling criminal networks and improving the safety and security of residents across the state.
He, However, urged Lagos residents to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious activities to the police.
