An online debate has stirred reactions after social media user, Vivian Chikaodi advised intending couples with ₦10 million wedding budget to reconsider their plans.
Suggesting that both partners should focus on improving their financial standing first, Chikaodi said;
“If you and your man have only 10m for both weddings, I’m sorry, you’re both broke. Leave marriage and hustle.”
Chikodi’s sarcastic tweet followed a question raised by one X user identified as @LAST B asking if 10million naira is enough for both church and traditional marriage in today’s economy.
“Is 10M enough for both church and traditional marriage in today’s economy?” She asked.
Reacting to the conversation, X users have sparked reactions, advising the couple to put aside marriage and double up their hustle first.
“Gbam!👀 Anything less than 20m, please don’t plan any marriage. Go double up ” A user opined.
“You need at least 50m to organize a wedding in Nigeria today.” Another user added.
“10m keh, are you sure there will be food at the wedding?” A user raised concerns.
Apparently, the conversation highlights the rising concerns over the increasing cost of living. In conjunction with how it’s affecting major life decisions, especially celebrations.
