Damilola Olayemi, widow of late Nigerian gospel singer Toluwanisings, has agreed to have her husband buried at his residence in Ibadan, Oyo State, following days of disagreement with his family over his final resting place.
The development was disclosed on Sunday by Lanre Alewilese, a close associate and colleague of the late singer, in an Instagram video.
Alewilese said the disagreement between the widow and the singer’s father had been resolved, describing the situation as a misunderstanding.
How the Burial Disagreement Started
The dispute became public after the singer’s family alleged in a viral online interview that Olayemi had rejected their plan to bury him at their family home in Ibadan.
According to the family, the widow preferred that her husband be buried in a cemetery.
However, the singer’s father opposed the suggestion, insisting that his son should be taken to his hometown and buried beside his late mother if he could not be laid to rest at his Ibadan residence.
The disagreement attracted widespread reactions on social media, with some users questioning the widow’s position and calling for an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the singer’s death.
Singer’s Associate Appeals for Peace
However, Alewilese said both parties had now agreed that the singer would be buried at his residence.

He also appealed to Nigerians to stop attacking the widow, noting that she was already dealing with a difficult period following her husband’s death.
“Please, for God’s sake, let peace reign. Damilola is very young for what she’s currently going through. I’m very close to the deceased; his wife is accommodating. All his band members can attest to this,” he said.
He added that the disagreement between the widow and the singer’s father had been settled and urged members of the public to allow her to mourn in peace.
“The disagreement between Toluwanisings’ father and his widow has been resolved. What happened was just a misunderstanding. The duo have agreed to bury Toluwanisings at his house,” Alewilese said.
