A man has stirred reactions at the APC Secretariat in Abuja following a solo protest to demand compensation after his sacrifices for the party in 2023.
Eyewitnesses at the scene alleged that the man arrived at the party’s secretariat agitated and shouting to be compensated.
Per an X video, the man revealed that he sold his house and spent roughly N30 million for the APC during the 2023 elections. He added that he also lost his wife during this process and is now homeless. The man also disclosed that he could no longer afford to feed his children and has now brought them to the party.
However, he stated that these efforts have gone unrewarded and unrecognized by the party. Instead, he alleged that he is being threatened by party officials.
Consequently, he is now seeking compensation for his sacrifices toward helping the party retain power in 2023.
“Reward me or kill me. I’m a party man and not a lunatic. I have lost so much for the party. I’m depressed and my health is affected.”
The incident has drawn concerns over the treatment of grassroots political players after the elections. Many believe that grassroots politicians are only valued by candidates during elections and abandoned afterward.
