Popular actress and film producer Funke Akindele has dragged Air Peace for abandoning its passengers at the London Gatwick airport without proper communication.
Akindele disclosed in a X post that Air Peace left passengers stranded from 6:30AM till around 4PM without adequate provisions.
She stated that;
After hours of delay, we were told there was a bird strike and promised a hotel. Hours later, people are still sitting at baggage claim hungry, exhausted, and without their bags.
The actress added that the abandonment has left elderly passengers struggling with families tired in the absence of clear updates and support.
Hence, she asked the airline to release passengers’ luggage and provide the hotel as promised.
Meanwhile, in their defense, Air Peace explained that its aircraft was grounded following a bird strike. The airline noted that it was conducting a comprehensive inspection and necessary checks on the aircraft.
“We sincerely empathize with passengers affected for any inconvenience caused by this unforeseen incident and appreciate your patience. Passengers affected have been communicated on our next line of action as we work diligently to minimize disruptions across our network.”
Despite the explanation, social media users alleged that the delay fits the airline’s usual history of flight delays.
