Federal Lawmaker Hon. Ifeanyi Uzokwe has attributed the recent exodus of legislators from ADC to NDC to the former’s alleged ownership by former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.
Hon. Uzokwe revealed in a recent interview that Atiku dominates the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
He stressed that key decisions were being influenced by personal control instead of collective agreement which brought the coalition together. As a result, this is causing tensions and undermining internal consensus.
The House of Reps member disclosed that these disagreements caused them to shift to the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
He emphasized that most of the negotiations at the ADC didn’t favour the Southern candidates. Instead, Atiku rejected the Southern aspirants in favour of his own candidacy.
Let him tell Nigerians. Jeffrey you are telling us mass movement. We left ADC because His Excellency Atiku Abubakar said that coalition was formed in his house, that ADC is his party, that nobody will tell him anything.
However, Hon. Uzokwe noted that efforts are ongoing at the NDC to field a Southern candidate. According to him, the Kwakwansiya movement has conceded to the South and would likely support Peter Obi.
Recall that in the past week, at least 3 Senators and 18 Representatives have quit ADC and NNPP for other parties. While most of them went to the NDC, only Hon. Abejide joined the All Progressives Congress (APC).
