Uganda’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has denied any case of Ebola outbreak in the country despite recent outbreak reports from Western media.
The ministry disclosed in a May 22 graphic shared on X that Uganda has zero Ebola cases. That is, no Ugandan, or anyone living in Uganda has Ebola infections.
The statement counters recent media reports of the Bundibugyo strain of the virus in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). So far, DRC authorities have confirmed about 246 suspected cases and 80 deaths, as of May 16, 2026.
Meanwhile, Uganda’s clarification has already begun to draw mixed reactions from the people. While some argue that the government may be hiding information, others are concerned about the reports alleging cases in the country.
