A 23-year-old student of the Nigerian Law School, Alayande Faith Ajoke, has died in a suspected suicide incident at the institution’s hostel in Victoria Island, Lagos.
According to a report by Zagazola Media, the incident occurred in the early hours of Friday, August 7, 2026, at the Law School hostel.
Zagazola Media, citing sources, reported that the Chief Matron of the Law School, Mrs Igbokwe Juliana, alerted the Victoria Island Police Division about the incident at about 6:30 a.m.
The report stated that at about 4:30 a.m., a student identified as Ojo Abisoye Tinuola, who had recently completed her internship, informed the matron about the suspected suicide involving her roommate, Alayande.
The matron was said to have proceeded to the scene, where the deceased was found lying on the ground within the hostel premises.
Preliminary observations reportedly suggested that the student may have fallen from the rooftop of the four-storey hostel building.
Police sources cited by Zagazola Media also disclosed that preliminary investigation indicated that the deceased allegedly left behind two notes addressed to her stepfather and roommate.
Following the report, detectives from the Victoria Island Police Division reportedly visited the scene, documented the area and photographed the scene and the body as part of the investigation.

The remains were subsequently evacuated to the Mainland General Hospital Mortuary in Yaba, Lagos, where they were deposited for preservation and autopsy.
The police have commenced an investigation to establish the circumstances surrounding the student’s death.
The incident remains under investigation, and the circumstances leading to the student’s death have not been conclusively established.
