The Federal Capital Territory Police Command has uncovered the circumstances surrounding the discover of a man’s body under the Katampe Bridge in Abuja, linking the case to a Gwarimpa guest house where he had allegedly lodged with a married woman.

The deceased, whose identity has not been released, was initially reported missing by his family before his body was discovered along the Kubwa Expressway by the Katampe underbridge on August 26, 2026.

Missing Phone Leads Police To Married Woman

According to the FCT Commissioner of Police, CP Ahmed Sanusi, investigators discovered that the deceased’s mobile phone was missing and used it as a major lead in the investigation.

Although the phone had been switched off, detectives were able to trace the deceased’s last known communication to a woman identified as Mrs Rukayat Muhammed of Garki Area 2.

Police said further investigation revealed that Muhammed, who is married, was allegedly in a romantic relationship with the deceased and had saved his contact as “Safiyat” on her phone.

Woman Allegedly Leaves Hotel With His Phone

Sanusi said investigations showed that Muhammed and the deceased had lodged at Good Samaritan Guest House, Second Avenue, Gwarimpa.

According to the police, the woman later discovered that the man was no longer breathing and had died.

Rather than immediately reporting the incident to the police, Sanusi said she allegedly took the deceased’s mobile phone and left the hotel.

The police have not said that Muhammed caused the man’s death, and the exact circumstances surrounding his death remain under investigation.

Hotel Workers Allegedly Dumped Body

Several hours after the woman left, hotel management reportedly gained access to the room after attempts to contact the occupants failed.

The management allegedly found the man’s lifeless body inside the room.

Instead of reporting the discovery to the police, two hotel workers, identified as Ibrahim Omeiza and Kefat Bitrus, allegedly removed the body from the guest house.

According to the police, they transported the body to the Kubwa Expressway by Katampe in Abuja and dumped it under the bridge.

Police Yet To Establish Cause Of Death

The discovery of the body had initially generated speculation about kidnapping and “one chance” robbery.

However, investigators subsequently established that the deceased was the same man whose disappearance had earlier been reported by his family.

The police commissioner stressed that the investigation is still ongoing and that the exact cause and circumstances of the man’s death have not yet been established.

Sanusi said anyone found to have played a role in the man’s death, or in the concealment and abandonment of his body, would face the law.

The married woman and the two hotel workers have been linked to the investigation as police continue efforts to establish exactly what happened inside the Gwarimpa guest house before the body was moved to Katampe.
