The Oyo State Police Command has arrested three suspects in connection with the alleged murder and robbery of a family of six at Oloba Village, Lagelu Local Government Area of Ibadan.
The suspects were identified as Hammed Akinbami, Akinbami Ojo and Padonu Edward, all residents of Oloba Village.
The attack occurred on September 22, 2026, when the suspects allegedly invaded the home of Ifeanyi Chukwu, his wife and their four children.
According to the police, the suspects were armed with a locally made Dane gun, two cutlasses and a club during the attack. The command alleged that the suspects stole ₦200,000 cash, a Boxer motorcycle, a Doma machine with a chainsaw and a spraying machine. It further alleged that Akinbami shot Chukwu, while Ojo and Edward attacked his wife, hitting her on the head.
The police said the attack later turned fatal, as the suspects allegedly tied two of the children by their hands and legs and threw them into a nearby river, while the remaining members of the family were also killed and their bodies dumped in the river.
However, the arrests followed credible intelligence received by the command on October 2, prompting detectives to investigate the incident and identify those allegedly responsible. During the investigation, police detectives visited the scene and recovered the family’s Boxer motorcycle, one locally made Dane gun, two cutlasses and the club allegedly used during the attack.
The three suspects were subsequently arrested and, according to the police, confessed to their involvement in the crime during interrogation.
