Nigerian authorities nab 46 illegal Immigrants in Ogun State

A coalition of Nigerian law enforcement agencies have reportedly apprehended 46 suspected illegal immigrants in Ogun State following an intelligence report.

The coalition involved troops of the Nigerian Army, the Department of State Services (DSS), Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), and the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS).

Reports revealed that an intelligence operation, which began on June 11, 2026, resulted in the arrest of the suspects at various locations in Ijebu Imushin, Ijebu Ilese, and neighbouring communities within the state.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the individuals had allegedly been residing in Ogun State for about six months without valid immigration documents.

During interrogation, the suspects reportedly identified themselves as merchants and workers affiliated with QNet, an online marketing platform.

The suspects include 18 nationals of Burkina Faso, 23 nationals of Cรดte d’Ivoire, four nationals of Togo, and one national of Senegal. And among those apprehended are 36 males and 10 females.

However, the suspects have reportedly been handed over to the Nigeria Immigration Service, Ogun State Command, for further investigation and necessary immigration procedures.

Commander of the 35 Artillery Brigade, Brigadier General Friday Oguche Onu, commended the troops of Nigerian Army and other security agencies involved in the operation for their professionalism and vigilance. He further urged residents to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious activities to security authorities.
