An Ekiti man has gone viral on social media after showing off campaign giveaways shared by the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
The giveaway, which came ahead of the Ekiti State Gubernatorial election scheduled for this Saturday is one of the regular campaign strategies employed by Nigerian politicians during voting season.
A video shared by the unidentified man showed that he received two sachets of Tomato paste. He also received Four pieces of Golden Penny noodles packaged in a polyethylene bag.
The packaging carried the campaign sticker for incumbent Governor Biodun Oyebanji who is seeking a second term at the June 20, 2026, off-cycle election. Governor Oyebanji is reportedly the favorite against 12 rivals, including PDP’s Wole Oluyede.
However, Nigerians have expressed mixed reactions to the giveaway expressing both anger and sarcasm. Some argue that the politicians are leveraging the people’s poverty. Others joked that the giveaway is the menu for the next four years.
According to X user Luna Mutra;
This people know how much they need us and they still put us in fear. Imagine giving noodles for campaign. Why can’t we stop all this bribing the voters and let those who appreciates what you have done vote for you.
Another user, Ihuaku, joked that;
This one will hold your stomach for at least 10years so you are covered.
