A single Nigerian lady has sparked conversations online after admitting she once judged her older aunties and sisters for remaining unmarried into their late 30s.
Reflecting on her younger years, she confessed that she used to wonder why they had not settled down, believing marriage should have come easily.
However, now that she is around the same age and still unmarried herself, she says she finally understands the realities they may have faced.
“I want to apologise to my big aunties and sisters. I know that while I was growing up, whenever I saw them in their late 30s and still unmarried, I used to wonder what they were doing with their lives. Now I’m around their age and I’m not married either, and I’m not even in a relationship. I never knew it was like this.” She recounted.
Her narration has since triggered widespread reactions with many social media users criticizing her views, claiming they reflected unrealistic expectations which might be the reason why she is still unmarried.
A user wrote:
“No be say them no see man marry but them dey find rich, handsome and intentional men..😂😂😂
And toto fit don make gbim..😂”
Others opined on how perspectives often change with age and experience.
“This is soo me right now😂. Don’t be overly confident when life hasn’t happened to you yet” Another user commented.
