Popular Nigerian content creator and streamer Peller has claimed that a significant portion of the dollar bills sprayed on him during his recent wedding ceremony to Jarvis turned out to be counterfeit.
The revelation came during a livestream, where Peller recounted his experience after taking the money to a bank to exchange it. According to him, bank officials informed him that many of the dollar notes were fake, leaving him surprised and disappointed.
Peller explained that although several guests genuinely gifted him authentic foreign currency, a large number of the notes sprayed during the celebration were allegedly counterfeit. He added that he could distinguish those who presented him with genuine money.
“The people that gave me real money, I know them.” He said
The streamer lamented that many of the dollar bills he had proudly displayed after the wedding were ultimately worthless. He questioned why anyone would go to the extent of spraying fake currency at a celebratory event, asking whether people feel pressured to spray money even when they cannot afford to do so.
His comments have since sparked conversations on social media, with many users debating the culture of spraying money at Nigerian ceremonies. While some sympathized with him and condemned the use of counterfeit currency. Others argued that the incident highlights the risks associated with publicly displaying cash at lavish celebrations.
