A Nigerian man has set tongues wagging online after sharing how his relationship ended following a disagreement over a restaurant bill.
According to his account, he was not originally part of the outing but was invited to join his girlfriend and her friends at the restaurant. Upon arrival, he realized that the group’s expenses were beyond what he could comfortably afford.
To avoid embarrassment, he requested a separate bill offering to pay only for himself and his girlfriend, while the rest of the group handled theirs.
However, this decision did not sit well with his girlfriend. She reportedly became distant during the outing, which later escalated into an argument. The situation worsened when she gave him an ultimatum: either refund her friends for the expenses or risk ending the relationship.
“She said I embarrassed her and that she was disappointed,” he stated.
“I should transfer the money to her friends or this relationship is over,” she reportedly said.
The disagreement eventually led to their breakup.
Weeks later, the man revealed that his ex-girlfriend reached out to apologize but still insisted he refund her friends. He declined both the request and any possibility of reconciliation.
“This morning her apology came in, with the same request attached,” he said. “I won’t, and there’s no chance I’m taking you back.” he wrote.
