A Nigerian tech entrepreneur known on X as @olamide_adee, has stirred backlash and heated debates online after rejecting job applications from APC supporters.
The Viatryon co-founder in a strongly worded post clarified that she would neither employ nor financially support individuals aligned with the ruling party.
She went further to question their judgment, arguing that anyone who supports APC lacks the capacity to build a stable life, let alone contribute meaningfully to a company.
“Asides the fact that I won’t be giving my hard earned money to any APC supporter , I’m also fully aware that your judgement on what is right is seriously flawed, you cannot build your life and talk more of building a company. Please don’t apply,” she wrote.
The announcement has since generated waves of reactions online over the employer discrimination based on people’s political allegiance and beliefs. Notably, critics slammed the stance as discriminatory and unprofessional, warning that mixing politics with hiring decisions could damage both reputation and growth.
Some of the critics comments;
“But if APC supporters offer your company a contract to execute. You’ll gladly accept it. Some of you are jokers and you speak from a place of ignorance.” Another user added
“If you’re thinking like this at this small level then how worse will you do if you get in the position to lead a nation? You can not force people to see things the way you do if you can explain to them. We all have our constitutional right to support whoever we want,” another user opined.
Conversely, supporters rallied behind her, framing the decision as a personal and ethical boundary in response to frustration with the country’s political climate.
“Your decision is valid! You cannot support or enable those who are seeing the obvious and have decided to join our oppressors in destroying the country. We should all learn to hold grudges against everything & anyone supporting APC.” A user wrote.
Another user added that;
“Honestly speaking , a lady lost a gig from my boss last week because she happened to be a vocal APC supporter. For someone to support a government as horrible as this, her judgement is flawed or it isn’t flawed but she lacks integrity, either way not suitable.”
I’M THE BOSS AND I MAKE THE RULES, TECH FOUNDER REVEALS….
As the controversy escalated, an unidentified individual reportedly reached out to challenge her stance via email.
In response, the tech founder doubled down, asserting her authority within the company. Standing on her instances along with her terms never to aligned with APC supporters.
“I can see your mail , and I am THE BOSS.” She said,
However, the heated debates evolved into a broader conversation about workplace ethics, political bias, and the limits of personal beliefs in professional spaces.
