A 28-year-old widow, Tosin Omolola, has sparked widespread outrage after accusing her late husband’s family of threatening, intimidating, and attempting to force her and her two children out of their matrimonial home just eight days after her husband’s death.
The case, which was uploaded on social media by Harrison Gwamnishu on Tuesday, after Tosin claimed that her husband died on July 20, 2026, and that just eight days later, her father-in-law, mother-in-law, brother-in-law, and his wife moved into the family’s residence in Ikorodu, Lagos State.
According to the allegations, the family ordered the widow to confine her belongings and those of her two young sons to a single room. While reportedly taking steps to distribute some of her late husband’s property and make plans to sell his vehicle.
Following the social media intervention, Tosin appealed to the Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA) and the Lagos State Police Command for protection, alleging intimidation, unlawful dispossession, and threats after she publicly shared her ordeal.
In an update shared by the advocate handling the matter, the father-in-law was arrested and taken into police custody while authorities began investigating the allegations. The advocate maintained that Tosin, as the legally married wife of the deceased, has lawful rights over her late husband’s estate and that any property allegedly taken or sold unlawfully would be pursued through legal channels.
Following the intervention, the mother-in-law and other relatives reportedly vacated the residence, allowing the widow and her two sons to remain in the home. The matter has since been transferred to the Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency for further handling.
Authorities are expected to continue their investigation while the agency provides support and protection for the widow and her children.
