A Nigerian man on X has threatened to take legal action against Buy Now Pay Later company CDCare for alleged misrepresentation and unauthorized data disclosure.
The X user identified as @Viznelson called out the firm for CDCare’s unauthorized visit to his house and also sharing his debt status with his landlord.
Viznelson disclosed that the firm’s representative visited his house following a delayed payment he already discussed with their representatives.
He explained that though he missed his last payment scheduled for February 27, he discussed plans to complete payment by March ending. However, the firm’s agents allegedly visited his house claiming he had been unreachable, despite communicating with them.
He argued that visitation and discussion with his landlord represented a breach of his personal debt data. He emphasized that the sharing of that information poses a significant threat to his housing status.
Following this, he revealed that he had reported the incident to the Federal Competition & Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) and the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA).
Viznelson added that he has also retained a legal practitioner to advance the case.
