The reported death of His Royal Highness Moses Theophilus Kenibara VII, the Amadabo of Moko-Ama in Bayelsa State, has triggered mourning across the Akassa Kingdom and the wider Ijaw community.
The 64-year-old traditional ruler reportedly died following complications from a liposuction procedure, with reports of his passing emerging around October 8 and 9, 2026.
Kenibara VII ruled Moko-Ama in Sangana, Brass Local Government Area of Bayelsa State. Beyond his traditional responsibilities, he served as chairman of the Akassa Clan Council of Chiefs and chairman of the Central Zone of the Ijaw National Congress (INC).
His reported death has drawn tributes from community members and stakeholders who remember him for promoting peace, unity and development across the Niger Delta.
During his tenure, Kenibara VII advocated unity among royal houses and supported efforts to establish a written constitution for the Akassa Clan Council of Chiefs. He also encouraged cooperation between community leaders and security agencies to tackle criminal activities.Â
However, members of the Ijaw community have continued to express grief over his reported passing, describing him as a leader committed to the welfare of his people. Hon. Marie Enenimiete Ebikake was also among those reported to have visited the late monarch’s family to offer condolences.
His death represents a reported loss to the traditional institution and the Ijaw National Congress, where he represented the interests of the people through his leadership role.
Meanwhile, official details concerning the circumstances of his death, the reported surgical complications and his burial arrangements remain unclear as the community awaits further information.
