The Oyo State Police Command has neutralized three suspected kidnappers and rescued a 50-year-old victim according to a May 26 statement.
The Police revealed that the operation was carried out at Otu in the Oke-Ogun axis in collaboration with local hunters and other security agencies.
They explained that the move followed a distress call from local hunters who were fired upon by the suspected kidnappers during an expedition. However, the hunters recorded no casualties, as they quickly reached out to law enforcement.
The Police stated that;
Upon arrival, the hoodlums opened fire and engaged the security team in a gun duel. However, through superior tactical response and coordinated effort, the criminals were successfully overpowered, leading to the neutralization of three suspected kidnappers.
Consequently, security operatives rescued an abducted 50-year-old victim identified as Mr. Mosudi Gbolagade. The victim was kidnapped at Okaka and held captive within the Otu area.
Notably, the victim and one local hunter sustained gunshot injuries during the exchange and were rushed to the hospital.
The Oyo Police furthered that the operation led to the recovery of one AK-47 rifle without ammunition. They also recovered one single-barrel gun, and one machete from the scene.
