“Buy From My Wife or Leave My House” – Tenant cries out over Landlord’s new rule

A social media user has shared a set of shocking rules introduced by her landlord including a compulsory order to buy provisions from his wife.

The tenant, identified on X as @wealth_prettyy disclosed that the Landlord introduced the new rules roughly four months after she renewed her rent.

The Notice tagged as “Mandatory House Rules and Regulations” includes 6 policies, one of which has got tongues wagging on social media.

Per the notice;

“All foodstuffs and household provisions sold within the premises by the Landlady must be purchased from her. Tenants are not permitted to purchase such items outside, as those goods are already made available in the household.”

The Notice indicates that the rules are non-negotiable. As such, anyone who fails to comply will be required to vacate the apartment immediately without further notice.

Reacting to this, the tenant argued that the Landlady’s prices are higher than outside. While outsiders sell sachet water for N600, the landlady sells for N700.

She added that tenants are also subjected to searches whenever they come home with groceries.

“If you come home with groceries, they’ll even check your bag like you’re smuggling contraband,” she added.

Meanwhile, she noted that efforts are ongoing to oppose the rule, considering her recent rent renewal.
