The Kingdom of Cambodia has reportedly ordered all Africans overstating their welcome in the country to leave by May 31 or risk paying a fine and possible jail term.
Per a statement circulating online, the Cambodian Government demanded that Ghanaians, Kenyans, Cameroonians, Ugandans, and other African nationals leave. The government stated that the order aligns with the official end of their waivers set for May 31, 2026.

Consequently, all African nationals whose fines have been cleared are expected to leave Cambodia on or before May 31, 2026.
Meanwhile, any foreign national who enter, remains, or is found in Cambodia from June 1, 2026 will face punishments. Following their arrest, they may serve a jail term of 2 years or pay a penalty of $8,000 before being allowed fo leave.
The statement added that Police will start arresting any foreigner at hideouts within the country from June 1. Anyone arrested will be handed over to the immigration authorities for legal action.
While the statement’s official capacity remains unconfirmed, it has already drawn backlash from Africans.
