AAC Seeks Presidential Villa for Sowore’s 2027 Campaign Council Inauguration

The African Action Congress (AAC) has written to President Bola Tinubu, seeking approval to inaugurate its Presidential Campaign Council at the Presidential Villa, Aso Rock, Abuja, on November 11, 2026, ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The party also requested food, drinks and other logistical support for 5,000 participants expected to attend the event from within and outside Nigeria.

The requests were contained in a letter dated October 21, 2026, and signed by the party’s National Secretary, Oshiokhue Philip Ikpeminoghena, on behalf of the AAC.

Party Cites Multiparty Democracy

In the letter addressed to Tinubu as President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, the AAC said its request was rooted in the principles of multiparty democracy, political inclusiveness and equal treatment of political parties.

The party argued that granting its requests would demonstrate the administration’s commitment to fairness and equal access to public institutions, regardless of political affiliation.

It also cited arrangements reportedly extended to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) for a similar political engagement, arguing that the same consideration should be given to other parties.

AAC Requests Support for 5,000 Participants

Beyond seeking permission to use the Presidential Villa for the inauguration, the party requested provisions for food, drinks and other logistical needs for the 5,000 participants expected at the event.

According to the letter, the gathering would form part of preparations for the 2027 general elections.

The party said it would appreciate information on the procedures and conditions required to secure approval for the proposed event.

Presidency Yet to Respond to Request

The AAC expressed hope that the President would give favourable consideration to its requests, maintaining that public institutions should serve all Nigerians without partisan discrimination.

However, the letter does not establish whether the Presidency has approved the proposed venue or agreed to provide the requested logistical support.

The proposed inauguration is scheduled for November 11, 2026, as political parties begin preparations for the 2027 general elections.
