The Association of Movie Producers (AMP) Nigeria has suspended Nollywood producer Chris Odeh over allegations of misappropriating N180 million belonging to BRS Studios.
Odeh, who serves as the Production Lead of BRS Studios, is also the producer of the recently released faith-based movie, Agbara Nla: The Return, produced in collaboration with Mount Zion Film Productions, Sozo Films and Circuits.
The suspension reportedly followed petitions submitted to the AMP by veteran actor and filmmaker Ramsey Nouah and entertainment executive Joy Odiete, who were involved with Odeh in establishing the production company.
AMP Suspends Producer Over Alleged Misappropriation
According to a report by NollyCritic, the AMP announced the disciplinary action following allegations that Odeh misappropriated up to N180 million meant to finance three productions.
The association reportedly said the matter was considered during a disciplinary hearing, where Odeh allegedly acknowledged misappropriating the funds and agreed to repay the money.
The allegations, however, remain claims made in the dispute and have not been independently established in court.
N60m Repayment Cheque Reportedly Bounced
The association reportedly said Odeh was expected to make an initial repayment of N60 million through a cheque scheduled for April 30, 2026.
However, the cheque allegedly bounced due to insufficient funds.

AMP reportedly viewed the failed payment as a breach of the repayment agreement and subsequently suspended Odeh pending further developments.
Followed its earlier consideration of petitions concerning the alleged financial dispute.
Odeh Produced ‘Agbara Nla: The Return’
The controversy comes shortly after the release of Agbara Nla: The Return, the modern reimagining of Mount Zion’s 1993 Christian film classic.
The new production, directed by Damilola Mike-Bamiloye and Joshua “JayMikee” Bamiloye, was produced by Odeh in collaboration with Mount Zion Film Productions, Sozo Films and Circuits.
The film opened in Nigerian cinemas on October 1, 2026, and has recorded strong early box-office figures. According to its distributor, Nile Entertainment, the film generated more than N71 million from single-day previews, with over 12,100 admissions.
The development has therefore placed Odeh at the centre of a financial dispute at a time when his latest major production is attracting significant attention in Nigerian cinemas.
Suspension Remains Pending Further Developments
AMP’s reported decision means Odeh’s suspension will remain in place while the matter and repayment arrangement develop.
Meanwhile, NollyCritic said the report would be updated as further developments emerge.
