Aproko Doctor’s Wife, Chef Amaka, Opens Up on PCOS and Fertility Struggles

Chef Amaka, wife of Nigerian health influencer Aproko Doctor, has spoken candidly about her struggle with Polycystic ovary syndrome, PCOS.

She revealed the emotional toll the condition has taken on her marriage and public life.

Sharing her experience, Amaka said she got married in June 2020 but stopped menstruating just three months later. After seeking medical attention, she was diagnosed with PCOS, a hormonal condition that can affect ovulation and fertility.

She explained that she first noticed changes in her body when she began gaining weight and developing a broader upper-body frame, symptoms she later learned were linked to the condition.

According to Amaka, her physical appearance has made her a frequent target of online trolls, who often mock her for looking bigger and older than her husband in photos. She said some have even referred to her as the “man of the house” and falsely accused her of physically abusing her husband because of her size.

The chef stressed that the most heartbreaking comments are those mocking her husband over his inability to have children. She admitted that reading such remarks often brings her to tears, knowing they emerge from her ongoing struggle to conceive.

However, Amaka’s disclosure has sparked conversations online about infertility, PCOS, body shaming, and the importance of showing compassion to people facing private health challenges.
