Car Dealer Debunks TikTok Influencer Barbiie Nelly’s ₦80 Million Mercedes-Benz Gift Claim

A Nigerian car dealer has publicly refuted claims by TikTok influencer Barbiie Nelly that her boyfriend gifted her an estimated ₦80 million Mercedes-Benz, alleging that the couple never purchased the luxury vehicle.

In a video circulating online, the dealer, alongside another man seated inside the Mercedes-Benz, explained that Barbiie Nelly and her boyfriend only visited the showroom to inspect and test-drive the car before leaving without completing a purchase.

According to the dealer, the pair allegedly recorded videos and photos during the visit, which were later posted online in a way that suggested the vehicle had been bought as a gift. He accused them of using the content to create a false impression of ownership, warning that such actions could mislead followers and potentially be used to solicit money from supporters.

The controversy gained traction after social media users linked the alleged luxury car claim to reports that the influencer had requested financial assistance from followers, fueling accusations of deception.

However, the incident has since sparked widespread debate online, with many users urging greater caution when interpreting displays of wealth on social media.

The viral story has also reignited conversations about the growing trend of influencers using temporary access to luxury cars, hotels, or other high-end settings to project lifestyles that may not reflect reality.

As of the time of reporting, Barbiie Nelly has not publicly responded to the dealer’s allegations, while her social media handles has been privatized raising more debates online.
