Nigerian pastor Julius Ekweozor has sparked widespread reactions after warning men against having intimate relationships with widows.
According to him a widow remains spiritually married to the spirit of her late husband and sleeping with her invites on man’s income, describing it as spiritual implications. In his statement, the cleric argued that a deceased husband’s spiritual bond with his wife does not automatically end with death.
The statement quickly ignited debate across social media, attracting hundreds of comments from users with differing religious views. While some supported the pastor’s position, others cited biblical passages, including 1 Corinthians 7:39, which states that a wife is bound to her husband only while he lives and is free to remarry after his death.

Several commenters also questioned why similar warnings are rarely directed at widowers, arguing that the pastor’s remarks appeared to place a spiritual burden on widows that is not equally applied to.
