Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have reportedly arrested the Director-General of the Energy Commission of Nigeria, Mustapha Abdullahi, over alleged financial misconduct involving N500 billion.
According to reports, Abdullahi was apprehended in Abuja and is currently in EFCC custody as investigations continue.
Abdullahi was appointed Director-General of the Energy Commission of Nigeria on October 24, 2023, by President Bola Tinubu.
However, details surrounding the arrest and the specific nature of the allegations is yet to be confirmed officially by EFCC.
The development has sparked reactions online, especially amid growing public scrutiny over corruption allegations involving government officials.
Many netizens also referenced the recent conviction of former Minister of Power, Saleh Mamman.
Mamman was recently sentenced following his conviction on 12 counts related to money laundering and fraud involving N33.8 billion.
