Effurun Killing: Police nabs Four Black Axe Cult members in gun-running investigation

The Delta State Police Command has arrested four suspected Black Axe Cult Members linked to the gun-running incident known as the Effurun Killing involving the death of Mene Ogidi.

The Police revealed that its investigation traced the gun to one Emmanuel Chukwuemeka in Bayelsa who bought it from one Amadi Princewill for N290,000. Princewill allegedly sold the gun to one Desmond who is currently at large for N380,000.

According to the Police, Desmond was the one who waybilled the gun to Effurun and contacted Mene Ogidi for further transfer to Sapele.

Per the Police’s statement, Chukwuemeka confessed that he bought the gun from Amadi Princewill who bought it from Amadi Felix for N200,000.

All suspects are members of black axe confraternity. They will be charged to court upon completion of investigation while the manhunt for other suspects including Desmond is still ongoing,” the Police stated.

While five suspects were linked to the case, only four have been arrested. These include Emmanuel Chukwuemeka, Clifford Boleyelefa, Amadi Princewill, and Amadi Felix Chibuike, who are part of the gunrunning syndicate.

Notably, Clifford, who is Emmanuel’s roommate, was implicated as his phone was used to communicate in the Beretta pistol deal. As a result, both were arrested, while Desmond still remains at large.

The Delta Police’s update comes more than a month after the Effurun Killing which attracted massive backlash from Nigerians.

On April 26, Police Officer ASP Nuhu Usman executed Mene Ogidi while he was attempting to receive a Beretta pistol. The incident caught on video immediately led to calls for justice while raising concerns about extrajudicial killings by Police officers.
