Nigerian influencer and content creator Simi Sanya has revealed that she only cooks a few simple meals for her husband, Femi Dapson, saying the arrangement has never caused issues in their marriage.
Speaking in a recent interview, Sanya disclosed that her regular menu consists of spaghetti, yam, egg, as well as bread and tea. According to her, her husband accepted her limited cooking skills from the very beginning of their relationship, and the issue has never led to disagreements between them.
The influencer explained that she was honest about her domestic abilities while they were dating, adding that Femi Dapson embraced her for who she is without expecting her to become an expert cook after marriage.
Simi, who is also an entrepreneur, said she often shares the story during interviews to highlight the importance of honesty, understanding and compatibility in relationships.
Her remarks have since sparked conversations on social media, with many users praising the couple’s mutual understanding and communication rather than expectations over household duties. Others, however, questioned whether her remarks reflect changing marital roles or challenge traditional expectations that wives should take primary responsibility for home cooking.
One X user wrote:
“She told him from the start what she can cook and he eats it with goodness in his heart. He needs to eat something different? He gets a chef or if he knows how to make the meal he makes it. Do what works for you in your marriage!”
Another user added:
“Useless generation obsessed with dysfunction and degeneracy. You think you’re doing anybody by knowing how to cook only spaghetti and Yam? Think again.”
