A Nigerian man has stirred reactions on social media after claiming he is divorcing his wife because she allegedly refused to pay ₦24,000 for their daughter’s hospital treatment despite having over ₦600,000 in her bank account.
Speaking on TheJusticeCourt, the man recounted how he was left stranded at the hospital after his daughter needed urgent medical attention and he had no money on him.
He explained how he always takes responsibility for everything by making adequate provision, enough food as well as other household things for the family. The man also added that despite the instability of his work nature, he still provides ahead to avoid unpleasant occurrences.
He stated:
“The work I did is not stable, but what I did is that in advance I want to make sure that I don’t want to hear there’s no food in this house anymore. So what i do is that I buy ahead even if I don’t have cash.”
Speaking further he added that:
“We were in the hospital with my daughter, and I didn’t have money. I had to wait for my brother, who wasn’t in Nigeria, to send me money. A day before, I had even struggled to send her money for food at work.”
He explained that he did not think to seek financial help from his wife because he had consistently covered the family’s expenses. He later discovered, to his surprise, that she had over ₦600,000 saved in her bank account.
However, the narration has stirred debate online with many users feeling concerned with the man. while stressing on the importance of mutual support in marriage. Others questioned whether there were underlying issues that had not been disclosed, and suggested to hear from the partner side before drawing a conclusion.
