Nigerian students have emerged as top in Cambridge examinations and prestigious academic competitions in the United Kingdom.
Among the standout achievers are Akota-Chika Serena and Tolulope Israel Adekimi, who recorded the highest marks worldwide in the Cambridge International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE), English and Mathematics examinations, respectively.
Reflecting on their achievement in an interview with Channels Television, Adekimi said he found IGCSE Mathematics easier than WAEC Mathematics. While he noted that the international examination focuses more on applying mathematical concepts to real world situations.
In another remarkable feat, Nafisa Abdullah Aminu and three other Nigerian girls excelled at the TeenEagle Global Finals in London, outperforming thousands of students from more than 69 countries.
The Nigerian contingent recorded impressive results: Nafisa Abdullah Aminu won Gold Medals in both Receptive Skills and Productive Skills. Chioma Ezedimbu earned a Silver Medal in Productive Skills and a Bronze Medal in Receptive Skills, demonstrating exceptional abilities in writing, persuasive speaking, spelling, and knowledge-based events.
While Amarachi Mitchell Orji secured a Gold Medal in Productive Skills and a Bronze Medal in Receptive Skills. Ugwu Kassandra Chimziterem also claimed Gold Medals in both Receptive Skills and Productive Skills.
The TeenEagle Global Finals which brought together students from around the world to test their English language proficiency, critical thinking, public speaking, and academic abilities while promoting cultural exchange and global collaboration.
However, the outstanding performances of these Nigerian teenagers have drawn widespread praise, with many hailing their achievements as a testament to the country’s academic talent and potential.
Additionally, their success has also reignited conversations about the quality of education defeating the olodo uprising. While highlighting the need to support gifted students, and the importance of creating more opportunities for young Nigerians to excel on the global stage.
“This is how we will defeat Olodo uprising, by celebrating our smart youngsters who are making us proud academically.” A user wrote.
