Nollywood actor Charles Okocha has defeated controversial street-pop singer Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, in their highly anticipated celebrity boxing rematch held in Lagos.

The bout, tagged “Unfinished Business,” took place on Friday, July 31, 2026, at the Balmoral Convention Centre, Federal Palace Hotel, Victoria Island, and marked the second boxing encounter between the two entertainers.

Okocha’s victory came more than two years after Portable defeated him in their first celebrity boxing contest, which was held at Landmark Beach, Victoria Island, in December 2023.

The rematch began with both entertainers exchanging punches at a fast pace before the contest quickly turned into a physical grappling encounter.

During the opening round, Portable grabbed Okocha and took him to the canvas, prompting the referee to intervene and separate the two fighters. Security personnel and bouncers also entered the ring as the confrontation appeared to be getting out of control.

However, after the fighters were separated and the first round ended, Portable unexpectedly walked out of the ring, drawing boos from some members of the audience.

The singer later returned and reportedly argued that taking Okocha to the canvas meant he had won the contest. Officials, however, rejected the claim and ruled that the bout could not be decided on that basis.

Portable was subsequently declared to have abandoned the contest, leading to his disqualification and the declaration of Okocha as the winner.

Winner announced

Announcing the decision, the host said:

“We do have a decision. And because Portable abandoned the ring after the first round, we have a winner, Mr Algorithm, Charles.”

The contest ended after the opening round, meaning there was no conventional round-by-round scoring.

Portable was also seen arguing with members of his team after leaving the ring, insisting that Okocha had not fought fairly.

The celebrity boxing rematch was the latest chapter in a long-running rivalry between the two entertainers, which began in 2023 following a disagreement over an alleged business deal.

Portable had accused Okocha of withholding money from an event and claimed that he was owed millions of naira. Okocha, however, denied the allegation, maintaining that there was no formal agreement between them.

The actor also stated that he transferred ₦5 million to Portable after the event, but the disagreement continued and eventually escalated into a public confrontation on social media.

The dispute later led the two entertainers to settle their differences in the boxing ring.

First bout

Their first encounter, sanctioned by Heritage Boxing Entertainment, lasted four rounds and ended with Portable being declared the winner.

Okocha, however, disputed the outcome, describing the contest as unfair and alleging that Portable removed his gloves during the third round. He subsequently called for a rematch, which was later scheduled as one of the major attractions of the Chaos in the Ring boxing event.

Ahead of the rematch, both entertainers exchanged threats during press conferences, interviews and face-offs.

Okocha had predicted that Portable would not last beyond two rounds, while Portable remained confident that he would repeat his victory from their first encounter.

In preparation for the contest, Okocha trained with heavyweight boxer Moses Itauma, while Portable prepared under boxer Taiwo “Esehpo” Agbaje.

The rematch also came at a difficult period in Portable’s celebrity boxing career.

The singer suffered his first defeat in the celebrity boxing circuit in May 2026 after content creator Carter Efe defeated him by unanimous decision at Chaos in the Ring 4.

Portable’s hope dashed

The loss ended Portable’s reign as the celebrity boxing champion.

Despite the setback, Portable remained confident ahead of his rematch with Okocha, describing himself as the “face of boxing in Nigeria.”

He also claimed that he had received ₦50 million ahead of the bout and that the total prize purse was ₦150 million.

However, the rematch produced a different outcome from their first meeting.

With Portable disqualified after walking out of the ring, Okocha emerged victorious and gained the bragging rights he had sought since his controversial defeat in 2023.

The victory gave Okocha revenge for his earlier loss and brought an end to a rivalry that had moved from allegations of a financial dispute and social media arguments to two high-profile celebrity boxing encounters.

For Portable, the defeat marked his second consecutive loss in the celebrity boxing circuit.
