The Oyo State Police Command has arrested two suspected drug peddlers and recovered eight parcels of weeds suspected to be “Canadian Loud” concealed inside a car tyre.
According to the statement released by the Command, the arrest followed actionable intelligence received on September 2, 2026, about the activities of a suspected drug peddler at a vulcanising shop, where illicit substances were allegedly being concealed inside a car tyre.
The Commissioner of Police, Oyo State Command, CP Abimbola Ayodeji Olugbenga, directed the Officer in Charge of the Anti-Narcotics Section, through the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of the State Criminal Investigation Department, to act on the information.
Police operatives subsequently moved to the location and, with the assistance of the vulcaniser, arrested two suspects and recovered eight parcels of suspected Canadian Loud concealed inside a car tyre. A vulcanising machine allegedly used to conceal the substances was also recovered as an exhibit.
The Command said the suspects confessed to their involvement during interrogation and are currently assisting detectives with the ongoing investigation. The Police will charge them to court after completing the investigation, while efforts continue to identify and arrest other members of the alleged syndicate.
However, the Police reiterated that the operation forms part of its intelligence-led efforts to disrupt drug trafficking and other criminal networks across Oyo State.
The Command further noted that the proliferation of illicit drugs could fuel crimes such as cultism, robbery, kidnapping and other forms of organised criminality. Thus, urged members of the public to provide timely and credible information to security agencies to support efforts to make the state safer.
